I trained to be a teacher in the UK and moved to NZ in 2007. Apart from taking a short break, when I had my two wonderful children, I have been teaching ever since. I joined the Pokeno School team in the middle of 2023. This year, I am very excited to be the Room 12 teacher in Tui Whanau with a class of wonderful Year 2 and 3 children.

I am thrilled to be a Year 2/3 teacher supporting the children on their learning journey. I am the Whanau Leader of Tui Whanau. You will find me in Room 14 with a welcoming smile.

I am an experienced teacher of 24 years and I have a real passion for teaching. I believe building positive relationships and developing a fun and safe learning environment are essential in order for children achieve in their learning. I love to have fun with my students and believe laughter is an important part of the classroom.
In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family and to go for walks. I love reading and take every opportunity to read a book. I also love spending time at Waihi Beach with all of my family.
I am really looking forward to getting to know you all a little more during the year!

Kia ora! My name is Hannah van Tiel and I am excited to be teaching in Room 15 this year.
I have only just recently graduated from the University of Auckland in July of last year, so Pokeno School is the first school I have taught at as a beginning teacher.
Since completing my degree, I have recently moved back home with my family in Bombay, after living for a couple of years in Auckland City while completing my studies. I grew up in the area and attended Bombay Primary School, so I am enjoying living in the area once again.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family (including my two dogs), netball, baking and travelling.
